JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of Cornerstone's Executive Director, maintains efficient operation and upkeep of Cornerstone's properties (i.e., interior and exterior of buildings, grounds, and related areas) and interacts with tenants as needed to perform these tasks.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Perform daily repair and upkeep of properties, to include carpentry, plumbing, painting, custodial duties, and some electrical work, HVAC work, and masonry.
  • Remove, install, and repair hardware, appliances, kitchen fixtures, mirrors, blinds, and other trimmings.
  • Perform routine upkeep of property grounds, to include mowing and lawn care, weed removal, tree trimming, landscaping, and snow removal.
  • Prepare vacant units for occupancy.
  • Maintain and keep inventory of all Cornerstone building- and grounds-related supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Supply and upkeep all personal tools required for the work.
  • Report to Cornerstone's Executive Director or his or her designee any information regarding properties or tenants that could impact Cornerstone's finances, reputation, or ability to carry out its mission.
  • Ensure that properties are safe for occupancy.
  • Respond to maintenance requests courteously and efficiently at all times, and remain in communication with Cornerstone's Executive Director or his or her designee on the status of maintenance requests.
  • Be aware of and operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) and other applicable standards and safety policies, including those related to lead paint.
  • Be available to work periodically on an on-call basis.
  • Recognize when outside expertise is needed to address maintenance or repair needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent mechanical/electrical aptitude
  • 2+ years experience in a maintenance or trade-related field
  • Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Good customer service, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Organized, accountable, and self-motivated
  • Understanding of Cornerstone's mission and ability to work with tenants, partners, and staff of diversified backgrounds with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
  • Agreement with Cornerstone's Statement of Faith

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited HS Diploma/GED
  • HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certification  
  • Collaboratively minded problem-solver with experience leading teams

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting 50-75 lbs with or without assistance
  • Climbing and working on ladder
  • Extensive walking and ascending/descending stairs
  • Kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing/pulling
  • Exposure to noise, heat, cold, slippery, wet conditions
  • OT and on-call duty as required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
